A group of ten sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's biological sex.
Their lawsuit states that Owens brushed aside any factual proof disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
